Since the debut of the first trans-boundary E-Commerce logistics platform, Sinotrans recently released their sea freight logistics platform for E-commerce, literally “Sea-Freight Booking Net”(www.sinotransbooking.com). It provides services like industrial information, freight quotation, online booking, tracking, etc., opening a new era of E-Commerce logistics.
The platform integrated logistics with e-commerce, aiming at establishing a connecting point between logistics service suppliers and demanders. This creates a supermarket of sea-freight services, where users could practically purchase sea-freight service just like buying goods in shops. Also, they are allowed to compare the freight rates, book online, process settlement, and tracking freight or paperwork. This endeavor changes the traditional paradigm of trading between sea-freight logistics service suppliers and demanders, more importantly, it will reduce the cost, improve the efficiency and service quality. This will in the long run shift the focus of competition from price to service, quality and customer experience.
One existing problem in sea freight business is that there is an unbalance between the demands of purchasing channels and information service from the customers and the available service offered by shippers and their agents. The whole new platform offers a modern logistics operation model which focuses on information, thus simplified and visualized the sophisticated process, listing all the information in different categories for the users.
A daily over 5,000 visits were recorded during the 3-month trial operation. In the future, Sinotrans will continue to enrich the service with functions such as Pay with Credit, and Credit Rating, Financing Agent, etc.
